Puerto Rico has been home to many cultures and faiths over its long history — with a rich quilt of religious practice and spirituality coming from Taino, Spanish and African cultures (and more) that shape Puerto Ricans today.
“Si Dios Quiere” (God Willing) is a comic series that sheds light on individual Puerto Ricans’ experiences with all things spiritual. Where do their paths align or diverge? How does their faith change on and off the island? What do their religious experiences say about what it means to be Puerto Rican?
I conduct all interviews, write scripts, and develop artwork for each iteration of the series. Artwork is first sketched by hand then digitally rendered in Apple Procreate. You can read the first iteration, Julie’s story, here.

Relearning Pasteles
I pitched the LA Times (through their The Latinx Files segment) with the story of how my mom reconnected with her heritage and learned how to make her mother's pasteles with the help of the Freakin Rican, a beloved Youtube creator (and restaurateur) who shares traditional Puerto Rican recipes with his audience.

Diary Comics
An ongoing series of wordless, four-panel comic pages recapping my weekend days. Mostly done from memory and imagination, they serve as a living document of my life and the people and places that populate it outside of weekdays’ constraints. These are often created on Sunday nights while the days’ memories are still fresh.
